What’s the deal with “Glühwein” ?
Glühwein is a mulled, spiced wine served warm in Germany and other European countries. It may be alcoholic or non-alcoholic, and is traditionally served around holidays.
That’s a good textbook answer, but what we know is that Glühwein is an experience!
The aroma, the warmth, the deliciousness that is Glühwein is all a wonderful part of European Christmas Villages. Tradition dictates that you purchase your commemorative Glühwein mug upon entering the Village and carry around the warm concoction as you stroll and shop.
At the Charlotte Christmas Village we are happy for all visitors to enjoy the authentic non-alcoholic version of Glühwein provided by one of our vendors, The Village Bakery.
For those of us over 21, Red Clay Ciderworks and Dover Vineyards are sharing a North Carolina Version of this wonderful “spirited” holiday treat.
Find your mugs and your warm beverages together in either, or both, of their booths!
